Common questions
If your question is not here, ask and I will add it.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. There is no server to upload to. The browser version does everything in the browser, and the app does not need internet at all. Open your browser’s Network tab while you edit and save, and you will see nothing goes out.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no file limit, no size limit, no watermark.
Can it edit a scanned PDF?
Not the scanned text. A scan is a photo of a page, so there is no text in the file to change. You can still add text boxes, annotate, sign, reorder pages, merge and split.
Does editing text break the layout?
Spacing and alignment are kept. But if you replace a short phrase with a much longer one, that line can run past the margin, because the paragraph is not reflowed yet. A small label warns you while you type.
Which browsers work?
Any browser can view and edit. Saving over the original file currently only works in Chrome and Edge; Safari and Firefox download the new file instead.
How big a file can it handle?
The app handles several hundred pages fine. In the browser it depends on the tab’s memory, so very large scanned files are better opened in the app.
Does it handle Vietnamese?
Yes, everywhere. Text you add keeps its diacritics, and search finds accented words even when you type without accents.
What about password-protected files?
Remove the password first, then open the file.
Do you track users?
No. The apps send nothing. The website has no trackers and no advertising cookies.
